FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why does my candle produce black smoke/“soot”?
A.  If you notice black smoke, it is typically a result of your wick being too long. We recommend trimming the wick to ¼” before each burn.

Q. What can I do with my empty candle jar?
A. We recommend repurposing the empty jar! Once your candle has burned down and only 1/2” of wax remains, discard the remainder of the wax (carefully as to not break the glass jar and not while candle is hot) and wash clean with soap and water. If you do not wish to repurpose your jar we ask that you recycle the jar, if you are able to do so.

Q. Why is my candle “tunneling”?
A. Candle tunneling is when a candle burns down the center and leaves hard wax surrounding it that doesn’t burn. To avoid tunneling: On the first burn, keep the candle lit until the top layer of the candle is liquid. It will also help to do this each consecutive burn.

Q. I ordered multiple scents/I tried a new scent and its not as strong as my last candle.
A. Some scents are not as strong as other and not every scent is like the other. Unfortunately, some scents will be lighter (more common in floral scents) and not as strong as other more rich scents.  We have several scents available to accommodate as many scent preferences as possible. Please let us know if you are unhappy with a specific scent as we can attempt to fix this issue in future batches.
Q. What does phthalate free mean?
A. Phthalates are chemicals often found in plastics, but also used often as a dissolving agent in cosmetics, fragrance oils, detergents and other everyday products.  For candles, they are used to dissolve raw materials when making fragrance oils. Researchers have found that there may be a link between phthalates and chronic illnesses and even some cancers. In effort to produce a non toxic candle, we only use fragrances that are 100% phthalate free.
All our fragrances are composed of both natural and synthetic properties that are skin safe!
Q. My candle looks bumpy after it burns, why?
A. It is common for soy wax to look bumpy after burning. Because it is a natural wax, we cannot avoid some imperfections. Your candle may cool evenly after your next burn. This will not change the scent or safety of your candle when burning.
Q. Why is shipping so expensive?
A. Unfortunately, we cannot control shipping costs and wish there was a more affordable way to ship. Currently we only offer shipping via USPS as they provide the quickest, most cost effective shipping. We offer pick up and delivery options for those in the Las Vegas/Henderson, NV areas.
